Nicli Antica is in the heart of the edgy part of Gastown. But if you haven’t been in a while, this area is changing! More unique stores, artists and restaurants and cafes are moving in, and they are moving into the historic buildings, creating a wonderful atmosphere.
It’s fairly modern inside, but is not too upscale that you feel you need to spend lots. It’s reasonable for pricing and you can sit at a table or at the bar, so you could easily head there on your own.
At our table we had: The special chanterelle mushroom pizza (small amount of cheese and lovely herbs and tenderly cooked chanterelle) was very nice. The crust is just crisp and chewy enough to make it delightful, just a bit harder to cut with a knife, but who doesn’t like a good challenge?! My friend had the Diavola Pizza – with hot sopressatta (salami), herbs, a bit of cheese and finished with chili oil. There is herb oil and chili oil as condiments to add a little extra flavour or spice.
For dessert, Tiramisu. And, according to my dessert loving friend, it was one of the best he has ever had. The layers could be seen, it was very tasty and served with a wine soaked plum as “the cherry on top”.
And for something different as a beverage try the Raspberry or Lemonade Vodka soda.
Add this to your list, it’s fantastic! Lunch, or an evening dinner with friends or loved one, it’s a great find!
